This is the one I found most useful: Memory Upgrade Acer Aspire One (YouTube). Numerous guides are available for installing the memory upgrade (just do a search for aspire one memory upgrade). I normally search Amazon for better deals - this time I'd save about $10 if I get it through Amazon. For my configuration, I can get a 2 2GB Crucial DDR2 for about $58 on Crucial. A list of compatible parts is also listed. Select the Model (Aspire One 532h, your model may be slightly different).Ĭrucial displays the default configuration for your netbook and the memory upgrades that are possible.Select the Product Line (Aspire netbooks). You can quickly toggle individual wireless devices on or off, change power-off USB charge settings, modify network sharing options, and much more. Using the Crucial Memory Advisor Tool, select the Manufacturer (Acer). I guess the drivers didn't work too well with an old BIOS. After days of headache over this, I think I finally resolved the issue. The BIOS description for 1.26 actually noted a windows 7 fix. When I flashed with the BIOS utility and upgraded, the wireless speeds came to be what I'd expect from an 802.11b card (4-6Mbps). I did a search of the Acer site here: Link Removed due to 404 Error and downloaded the latest BIOS (1.27). When I checked the BIOS version of my Acer Aspire One AOD250, it was pretty old (1.13). I actually did manage to fix the problem. I had both an ubuntu machine and a windows xp machine connected and they both ran fine without any such problems. I noticed that the failure rate was way high too, but I have other machines that run against the router too. My router had the latest firmware as of May 2010. Initially I thought it might be a compatibility issue with the router and Windows 7 but turns out that wasn't the case either. Thanks for the response but that wasn't it. Network adapter Wireless Network Connection driver information:ĭescription. Which is interesting because when I did a diagnostic of the network adapter, it doesn't actually list that version. Device Manager currently has it listed as 8.0.0.238. I have upgraded the driver on the network adapter to be the latest. I made sure that all of the power management settings for the wireless were set to maximum so I'm positive that the OS is not turning it off causing the connection problems. This is a new machine and came with the Atheros AR5B95 Wireless Network Adapter.

I have an Acer Aspire One AOD250 with Windows 7 Starter. It seems that my wireless connection is extremely slow and nothing I've tried will correct the problem.
